Founding history

Three events are at the origin of the founding of the APUL

  1. The message below sent to the UL academics in January 2011
  2. The AECS revival meeting, March 2nd 2011
  3. The UL professors meeting, April 4th 2011
  4. The Founding General Meeting, May 25th 2011

Dear UL Faculty members, colleagues and friends,

Some of you have strongly encouraged me to organise a General Assembly of all UL Faculty members in order to revive the AECS “Association Des Enseignants Chercheurs du Supérieur” (Club of Higher Education Teachers and Researchers). The AECS was created around 2001 in the forefront of the founding of the University of Luxembourg back in 2003. Its major aim was to contribute an insider view from future UL faculty members to the civil society and the local politicians.

Time has come, I think, that such an insider view from the very UL faculty members themselves needs to be expressed and communicated, as well inside, as outside of the University. Many voices in Luxembourg are indeed pretending to perfectly know what is best for us like the UL authorities, the FNR and the Higher Education Ministry, and even some members of  the “Section des Sciences Morales et Politiques” of the “Institut Grand-Ducal“.

To discuss and check if more faculty members share my view on this necessity to communicate from the inside about our ongoing academic work, I invite you to meet on Wednesday, March 2, 17h00 in the “Salle des Conseils”, Campus Kirchberg.

Looking forward to seeing many of you,
Best Regards,
Raymond Bisdorff
